The choice of lighting for home decoration should be called the “lighting design” in interior design in a more rigorous definition.
The color and brightness of the light, range and angle of illumination, reflection coefficient of the surface material of the item itself determine the lighting effect of the specific indoor scene.
The implementation and modification of the lighting design scheme all need to shift the power supply line more or less.
In order to reduce the cost of later changes, it is necessary to make as much as possible for the changes that may occur later in the interior design.

The most common lighting needs
Meet the basic lighting needs of the functional area
The functional requirements of local space are the first to consider.
For example, the illumination of the light source and the color rendering index of the household area, the reading area, the cooking area and dining area.
Be sure to make a scene before you buy a luminaire.
For non-functional area lighting, it is necessary to avoid the glare effect and reduce the light pollution caused by unnecessary light sources.
A low color temperature source with indirect illumination provides soft light and helps to relax.
Form a reasonable match with the interior materials
Wall paint wallpaper, door cover line, floor tile, wall hanging oil painting, color matching carpet, pillow cushion, dolls and souvenirs on the shelf, which constitute the local visual center of gravity and the material, the color temperature and color reproduction ability of the light source. The requirements for the concentrating power of the luminaire and the size of the spot are not the same.
The choice of different light sources and luminaires is almost completely different. It is necessary to grasp the key points and use the lights reasonably to emphasize or ignore certain elements.
Advanced lighting needs
The shape selection of the luminaire affects the illumination range of the light source. Different installation angles and directions have different effects, which affect the distribution of light and shadow areas projected on the top surface of the wall.
According to the different life scenes, different levels of lighting solutions are designed, including
- Full area lighting
- Partial illumination
- Functional lighting
- Ambiance to create lighting
- Fixed lighting
- Temporary lighting
The light source of the same illumination layer should be consistent in color temperature and color rendering.
For example, a light source with a high luminous flux is arranged in a writing desk, a home workbench, a kitchen operating area, etc., so that the actual illuminance of the space reaches 200 to 300 lx, which is convenient for work.
For example, a light source with medium to low color temperature, medium and low illumination, and medium and high color rendering is used for auxiliary illumination of decorative objects and small spaces;
It is also possible to use a light source with a color temperature of about 3800K-5300k, medium and low color rendering (Ra can be less than 80, of course, high Ra source can also be used), and a single point illumination of more than 300lx for working illumination, thereby forming color temperature and illumination. The level above.
In the use of indoor light, it is also necessary to consider the reflection of the light on the wall, the ground, the top surface material and the surface material of the household product.
It should include both specular and diffuse reflections. Light-colored all-ceramic tiles, glass partitions, glass countertops, and other bright surfaces can be considered as specularly reflective materials.
There are similar differences between white and light yellow wood grain, light yellow wood grain and walnut color, yellow wood color and dark red color paint. Under the same light source, the texture will be slightly different. difference.
By the same token, the angle and direction of the light emitted by the luminaire and the household appliances (mainly the refrigerator, which may block direct light) and the location of the main furniture also need to be predicted and coordinated, and the color temperature and illuminance of the light source are predicted in advance. Purchase the projection effect on the surface of the furniture.
The style and surface material of some electrical appliances also need to be taken into consideration. For example, the refrigerator may be placed in the dining area. The door may have a white glossy surface, a gray metal brushed surface, and a champagne-colored glossy surface.
Even when illuminated by the same light source, it will have different effects.
Reasonable use of diffuse reflective surfaces, such as indirect lighting of wall lamps, can reduce the effects of glare and avoid indoor light pollution as much as possible.
A light source with higher color rendering, a lighter cover with a smaller illumination range, and slightly lower intensity (100-200lx), which is more suitable for presenting decorative items with lighter colors, and is not easy to snatch the visual center of a curtain wall.
If the natural lighting of the house is poor, mainly using artificial auxiliary lighting, in different periods of the day, different levels of lighting schemes can be used to simulate the change of natural light.
Use high color temperature and high illumination when you need to work at home during the day. When the color becomes darker and you need to eat and rest, you can use low-color temperature plus medium-low illumination to make the occupants relax until they sleep peacefully.
Restore the features that people or household items can exhibit under natural lighting by choosing the right lighting solution.
For example, in the selection of lamps in the dining area, it is necessary to match the light source with the continuous spectrum and color rendering greater than 80, which can make the dishes on the table look more beautiful, and also make the people who eat under the lamp look better.
The same is true for the lighting in the wash area. The low color temperature, high illumination and high color rendering of the light source allow the occupants to see a radiant self after washing and keep the mood happy.
The point of choosing a light source
When selecting the light source and the luminaire in the interior design, in addition to meeting the above-mentioned functional lighting requirements, and considering the possibility of using the lighting scheme to enhance the comfort, it is also based on the layered design, according to the visual center of gravity in each space. Preset orientation, select the color temperature, luminous flux, color rendering index, power, shape size, installation method to meet the requirements of the light source and supporting lamps.
In the selection of the light source, factors to be considered include power (W), luminous flux (lm), luminous efficiency (lm/W), color temperature (K), color rendering index (Ra), interface type, glare stroboscopic, etc. .
The concept of power (WATT) is well understood and directly related to power consumption.
The luminous flux (lm) characterizes the luminous ability of the light source. The light emitted by the same source, measured at a distance from the source, is called illuminance (lx) and refers to the brightness per unit area of the illuminated plane.
The higher the Luminous efficacy (lm/w) value, the higher the brightness can be obtained with the same power.
The simplest expression of color temperature is that the lower the color temperature, the warmer the color, the higher the color temperature is, the closer it is to white, and the higher it will be closer to blue and white.
The color rendering index refers to the reproduction performance of the light source for the color.
The color rendering index of the incandescent lamp can be regarded as 100, and the Ra of the current common LED bulb is around 80.
The CRI 80, which is indicated in the general LED bulb package, also refers to the color rendering index, but uses the abbreviation of Color Rendering Index.
Light Base types
The light source interface types are generally E14, E26, E27, GU4, GU10 and other common types. E14 of E14 and E27 represent Edison threaded sockets, and 14 and 27 represent the integer values of the outer diameter of the socket.
Among them, E26/E27 interface is the most common, widely used in incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, and LED bulbs. E14 interface lamps are more common in crystal lamps, and GU4 and GU10 are used in other LED sources.
In addition, the selection of the light source should also consider the insect attracting property. The visible wavelength of the insect and the human eye is different. Relatively speaking, the bulb type LED is less likely to attract insects as a light source. From this point, it is more suitable for indoor lighting than fluorescent lamps.
